As soon as the announcement л л of his departure was made official, Dio began to л л put together his first solo project. Joining him л л were former Rainbow band mate Jimmy Bain on bass, л л former Sabbath band mate Vinny Appice on drums, л л ex-Sweet Savage guitar hero Vivian Campbell, and л л newcomer Claude Schnell on keyboards. л л л л Holy Diver, Dio's band debut, was issued in 1983. л л The album quickly became a favourite among head л л bangers worldwide and eventually earned the group л л platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat л л sounding "Rainbow in the Dark" was an MTV л л favourite, while the title track proved to be л л another standout. Other album highlights include л л the opening anthem "Stand Up and Shout," л л "Invisible," and "Don't Talk to Strangers." Holy л л Diver proved that Dio's departure from Black л л Sabbath had not affected his spirits.
