AC/DC is one of the biggest bands on Ί ³ ³Ί the planet and are forging ahead and moving up Ί ³ ³Ί the ladder of the ‘Greatest Bands of All Time” Ί ³ ³Ί list. This is an amazing feat when you consider Ί ³ ³Ί that before the seminal Back in Black album, Ί ³ ³Ί critics hated this band and blasted them with Ί ³ ³Ί the release of every album calling them Ί ³ ³Ί juvenile, untalented and noisy. Now, they are Ί ³ ³Ί media darlings and rock royalty. They deserve Ί ³ ³Ί the accolades but it is funny what happens when Ί ³ ³Ί the cool kids find out they were wrong about Ί ³ ³Ί something. Instead of admitting it, they just Ί ³ ³Ί take it as their own and move on. Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί This is another superb DVD/Blu Ray. The band Ί ³ ³Ί plays to a jam-packed soccer stadium full of Ί ³ ³Ί people hopping up and down the entire concert. Ί ³ ³Ί They sing along to the guitar parts and to every Ί ³ ³Ί word. AC/DC does not play in this area often so Ί ³ ³Ί the reaction is that of religious fervor. Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί The band responds, as they always do, by Ί ³ ³Ί blasting out a show of classic tunes, huge hits Ί ³ ³Ί and a few deep album cuts for the die-hard fans. Ί ³ ³Ί It was great to see “Dog Eat Dog” and “Hell Ί ³ ³Ί Ain’t a Bad Place to Be” back in the set list. Ί ³ ³Ί Of course, it is the massive hits, Ί ³ ³Ί “Thunderstruck,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” Ί ³ ³Ί “Highway to Hell,” “Hells Bells” and “For Those Ί ³ ³Ί About to Rock” that bring the house down. Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί The concert was part of the Black Ice world tour Ί ³ ³Ί so several tunes from that album are peppered in Ί ³ ³Ί and Rosie even rides a gigantic locomotive like Ί ³ ³Ί it’s Bon Scott’s pecker - great fun indeed. This Ί ³ ³Ί band is still able to put on a great show as Ί ³ ³Ί they defy age. AC/DC are the real deal and one Ί ³ ³Ί of the best at what they do, but real rockers Ί ³ ³Ί knew that back in 1977, now didn’t we? Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί AC/DC are an Australian Hard rock band, formed Ί ³ ³Ί in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. The Ί ³ ³Ί band is commonly classified as hard rock and are Ί ³ ³Ί considered pioneers of heavy metal,though they Ί ³ ³Ί themselves have always classified their music as Ί ³ ³Ί simply "rock and roll". To date they are one of Ί ³ ³Ί the highest grossing bands of all time. AC/DC Ί ³ ³Ί underwent several line-up changes before Ί ³ ³Ί releasing their first album, High Voltage, in Ί ³ ³Ί 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Ί ³ ³Ί Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in Ί ³ ³Ί 1977 for the album Powerage. Within months of Ί ³ ³Ί recording the album Highway to Hell, lead singer Ί ³ ³Ί and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February Ί ³ ³Ί 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol Ί ³ ³Ί consumption. The group briefly considered Ί ³ ³Ί disbanding, but Scott's parents urged them to Ί ³ ³Ί continue and hire a new vocalist. Ex-Geordie Ί ³ ³Ί singer Brian Johnson was auditioned and selected Ί ³ ³Ί to replace Scott. Later that year, the band Ί ³ ³Ί released their highest selling album, and Ί ³ ³Ί ultimately the highest-selling album by any Ί ³ ³Ί band, Back in Black. Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί The band's next album, For Those About to Rock Ί ³ ³Ί We Salute You, was their first album to reach Ί ³ ³Ί number one in the United States. AC/DC declined Ί ³ ³Ί in popularity soon after drummer Phil Rudd was Ί ³ ³Ί fired in 1983 and was replaced by future Dio Ί ³ ³Ί drummer Simon Wright, though the band resurged Ί ³ ³Ί in the early 1990s with the release of The Ί ³ ³Ί Razors Edge. Phil Rudd returned in 1994 (after Ί ³ ³Ί Chris Slade, who was with the band from 1990- Ί ³ ³Ί 1994, was asked to leave in favour of him) and Ί ³ ³Ί contributed to the band's 1995 album Ί ³ ³Ί Ballbreaker. The band's next album, Black Ί ³ ³Ί Ice, was released on 20 October 2008. AC/DC's newest album, Iron Man 2, Ί ³ ³Ί soundtrack to the film, was released on 19 April Ί ³ ³Ί 2010. Ί ³ ³Ί Ί ³ ³Ί As of 2010, AC/DC have sold more than 200 Ί ³ ³Ί million albums worldwide, as of the releases of Ί ³ ³Ί their latest albums, Black Ice and the Iron Man Ί ³ ³Ί 2 soundtrack, including 71 million albums in the Ί ³ ³Ί United States. Back in Black has sold an Ί ³ ³Ί estimated 49 million units worldwide, making it Ί ³ ³Ί the highest-selling album by any band and the Ί ³ ³Ί second-highest-selling album in history, behind Ί ³ ³Ί Thriller by Michael Jackson. The album has sold Ί ³ ³Ί 22 million in the US alone, where it is the Ί ³ ³Ί fifth-highest-selling album. AC/DC ranked fourth Ί ³ ³Ί on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Ί ³ ³Ί Hard Rock" and were named the seventh "Greatest Ί ³ ³Ί Heavy Metal Band of All Time" by MTV.
