Wakeman's Solokarriere begann 1973. Seine erfolgreichsten Platten sind The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974) und The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975). Er hat mehr als 100 Soloalben produziert und mehr als 50 Millionen Platten verkauft. The album consist entirely of relaxing keyboard melodies, played at a single pace. There's no variety to the music, no virtuoso flourishes, no drama or excitement, and little variation in the sound. The music is certainly pleasant, if totally unchallenging.
