Blues

Johnny Winter (* 23. Februar 1944 als John Dawson Winter III in Beaumont, Texas) ist ein einflussreicher amerikanischer Blues-Gitarrist, S�nger und Produzent.
Am fr�hen Morgen des 22. April 1979 trat Johnny Winter als Top-Act der 4. Rockpalast Nacht in der Essener Grugahalle auf. Dieser Auftritt machte ihn auf einen Schlag in Europa sehr bekannt. 1988 folgte die Aufnahme in die Blues Hall of Fame.
Die Blues-Legende Johnny Winter ist im Alter von 70 Jahren am 16.7.2014 gestorben. Der Gitarrist wurde in der Nacht auf Mittwoch 16.7. tot in einem Hotelzimmer in Z�rich aufgefunden.

INTRODUCTION - This should not be listed as a track. It's a couple seconds of a warm up lick.
THE SUN IS SHINING - Decent moderate tempo shuffle. A little less fire than usual but tasty and accurate phrasing. Guessing circa 1995-ish. Better playing and vocals than NYC Live but not crazy zany. The guitar mix is way too low. The vocals are a bit high. If the guitar matched the vocal level it would be better. You'll need to turn it louder for the guitar parts and lower when it goes back to vocals.
KNOCK ON WOOD - So cool! This is rare and very good. Singing it playing the guitar at the same time is amazing. Laser guitar.
Excellent leads. Way more fire than cut above. Guessing 1991/1992 but just a wild guess. Hard song to pull off as a 3 pc and he sure does.
KIND HEARTED WOMAN BLUES - Open tuning electric slide version. Yes...it's great! Sound is real good too. Playing is perfect. Singing is too.
JOHNNY B. GOODE - Another rippin version. Can't get any better. Probably w/Jon Paris.
YOU'RE HUMBUGGIN' ME- Guitar nice and up front in the mix. A textbook of licks on display here, vast and strung together like only JW.
It's an extensive use of vocabulary.
NO TIME TO LIVE - Another rare one. Saw him do it live at The Ritz in NYC and it was something. This sounds like that version. Circa early 80's.
BOOT HILL - Yet another rippin version. How can anyone play like this?
YOU MUST HAVE A TWIN (BONUS TRACK from the "GEMS FROM THE ATTIC TAPES" - This is pretty cool. It's fast and really cooks. Mix is odd yet interesting. A layered lower volume vocal track , bass and drums tight as can be, slide on fire.
