Dante wurde von dem Gitarristen Markus Berger und dem Keyboarder Markus Maichel im Jahr 2006 gegründet. Ein wesentliches Kennzeichen der Musik Dantes ist die genretypische Überlänge der Songs mit langen Instrumentalteilen. Dante kombinieren in ihren Kompositionen metallastige Gitarrenarbeit mit komplexen Keyboardarrangments. Stilistisch weisen die Songs stellenweise Parallelen zum klassischen Progressive Rock der 1970er Jahre auf, in der Regel überwiegen jedoch die Einflüsse moderner Progressive-Metal-Bands. Die Musik der amerikanischen Progressive-Metal-Band Dream Theater wird in Rezensionen über die Alben Dantes in der Regel als Bezugspunkt herangezogen. Dante's fourth album in 10 years is probably the band's most diverse, complex and modern-sounding record to date, at various times channeling the technicality of Dream Theater, emotiveness of Pain of Salvation, an unexpected jazziness or just a metal version of Kansas. When Dante goes for the attack, the sound is loud and thick, and the longer songs seldom repeat themselves, which was a trait common to, say, the Saturnine album.
