Fronted by Tom Johnston from 1970 to 1975, and Michael McDonald 1975- 1982. The group officially split in 1982 but re-formed in 1987 with Johnston resuming the lead. They have released 13 albums. Their 1973's "Long Train Runnin'", "Black Water" as well as "What a Fool Believes", "Minute by Minute" are considered all time classics. Minute by Minute is the eighth studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers. The definitive release of the Michael McDonald era, "Minute by Minute" is a successful fusion of their original Roots Rock sound with the smooth urban Soul of their time with McDonald. Highlighted by the classic "What a Fool Believes" which shot straight to no. 1 propelling the album to attain the same the album is a solid release which shows it's more than the hits. McDonald's warm and distinct vocals give the music it's slick sophisticated sound while in tracks like "Dependin' on You", "Don't Stop to Watch the Wheels" and "Steamer Lane Breakdown" the guitar rises to the fore making sure you don't forget where they came from. One of the most notable Pop albums, this is a warm laidback soother one can relax to in smooth nighttime revels.
