Die Band hatte eine Reihe von Hits, darunter Red Red Wine, I Got You Babe, Can’t Help Falling in Love und Kingston Town. Die Band wurde 1978 in Birmingham von den Brüdern Robin und Alistair „Ali“ Ian Campbell gegründet. Chrissie Hynde, die Sängerin der Pretenders, sah die Band bei einem Clubkonzert und bot ihnen an, bei der Pretenders-Tour 1980 als Vorgruppe mitzufahren. Die Band willigte ein und bekam den ersten Plattenvertrag mit einem Indie-Label. Noch während der Tour veröffentlichten sie ihre erste Single Food for Thought, die bis auf Platz 4 in den englischen Charts kam. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell & Astro's album, Unprecedented, is the follow-up to 2018's A Real Labour of Love that went to #2 on the U.K. charts. Recorded in studios in London and Jamaica between lockdowns, the album is a collection of songs that Ali & Astro have loved for many years by artists they admire (such as Stevie Wonder and Kris Kristofferson) alongside self-penned tracks inspired by the pandemic and the state of the U.K. at the moment. The album was originally scheduled for release in 2021 but the release was postponed due to the sad passing of Astro in November 2021. [color=#FF0000]01. What Have I Done 02.
