Seit ihrer Gründung hat sich die Formation häufig geändert. Der in Nordirland geborene Rodney Orpheus gründete die Band 1982 zusammen mit Paul Dillon und Andrew Booth. 1984 erschienen die ersten beiden, selbst finanzierten Singles March und Moscow Idaho. Letztere zählt heute zu den Klassikern der Band. Mitte der 1990er wurde es ruhig um die Band. 1995 erschien das Best-of-Album Work 1.0. Für das Jahr 2007 reaktivierte Rodney Orpheus Cassandra Complex wieder und die Band bestreitet seitdem Live-Auftritte. In 1993 they released the album ‘Sex & Death’ to a limited audience. Now, 30 years later, the band have re-recorded this classic record from scratch as ‘Death & Sex’. ‘Death & Sex’ features the original founders of the band Rodney Orpheus (vocals, synths, drum machines) and Andy Booth (guitar), with long-time additional members Chris Haskett (Henry Rollins Band, David Bowie) on guitar and Mera Roberts (Faith and the Muse, Black Tape for a Blue Girl) on cello, plus new member Brent Heinze (Probe 7) on keyboards. The album, along with many other classic songs from the entire 40-year back catalogue of THE CASSANDRA COMPLEX, will be featured on the forthcoming CX40 world tour [color=#FF0000]01.
