In 2011, it was formed as a side project by the Rage musicians Peavy Wagner (vocals and bass), Victor Smolski (guitar and keyboard) and André Hilgers (drums) as a continuation of 1996's Lingua Mortis album The album was composed by Victor Smolski and Peter "Peavy" Wagner, who cooperated with two orchestras from Spain and Belarus, enlarging the number of this project's participants to more than 100. Together with longtime co-producer Charlie Bauerfeind, was produced and mixed the record in Twilight Hall Studio in Krefeld, Germany. LMO follows the concept of the burning of witches in Gelnhausen in 1599 and was written by vocalist Peter Wagner based on a true story. Rage-Frontmann Peavy Wagner gelingt der Spagat zwischen hart und weich gewohnt charmant - mit teils beinharten Nummern wie ‘Scapegoat’ oder ‘Witches’ Judge’, während derer Aufnahmen die Orchester aus Spanien und Weißrussland sicher ins Schwitzen geraten sind. Doch hart kann jeder: Die richtig starken Momente liegen in den Balladen wie zum Beispiel ‘Lament’, ‘The Devil’s Bride’ oder ‘Afterglow’ verborgen. Hier zeigen sich zwar die größten Parallelen zum Trans-Siberian Orchestra (auch durch den Einsatz von Frauengesang), jedoch auch die tolle Gesangsstimme von Peavy.
